Antigenics’ mission is to enhance and extend lives through the development of superior health care products for a wide range of cancers, infectious diseases and autoimmune disorders.

Lead Products in Development at Antigenics

Oncophage® (vitespen; formerly HSPPC-96). Investigational patient-specific cancer vaccine based on Antigenics’ heat shock protein technology. Oncophage has been evaluated in Phase 3 trials and has received fast track and orphan drug designations from the US Food and Drug Administration for both kidney cancer and metastatic melanoma. Oncophage is designed to reprogram the immune system to target cancer cells while leaving healthy cells unaffected.

Aroplatin™ and ATRA-IV. Investigational liposomal formulations of existing classes of drugs that have been designed to offer potentially increased efficacy and bioavailability. Aroplatin is being evaluated in a Phase 1 trial in solid tumors and B-cell lymphoma. The company is currently evaluating its ATRA-IV clinical development program.

AG-707. An investigational vaccine for genital herpes treatment based on proprietary heat shock protein technology. This off-the-shelf formulation is in Phase 1 testing.

QS-21. One of the world’s most widely studied immune adjuvants. This investigational adjuvant is being tested in several advanced clinical vaccine programs in partnership with leading pharmaceutical companies.

In the 13 years since its inception, Antigenics has achieved important milestones:

  • Advanced six products in clinical trials, including Phase 3 trials
  • Built on five technology platforms
  • Established a strong intellectual property position in its core technologies, with more than 80 issued US patents

Antigenics has made two acquisitions that fit in well with its overall strategy: Aronex Pharmaceuticals, a company with products that treat cancer using novel drug formulations designed to reduce toxicity and increase efficacy, and Aquila Biopharmaceuticals, with products built on an immunology technology platform.

Antigenics has corporate offices in New York City, and research, development and manufacturing facilities in Lexington, Massachusetts.
