Karen Higgins Valentine is Vice President and General Counsel of
Antigenics, Inc. Since joining Antigenics in 2004, Ms. Valentine has
played an integral role in developing and managing the legal department,
advising colleagues on key legal issues throughout the organization, and
participating in strategic planning. She is a member of the Executive
Management, and also serves as Secretary and Compliance Officer of the
company. Prior to joining Antigenics, Ms Valentine was an associate in
the biotechnology practice of Palmer & Dodge LLP (now Edwards, Angell,
Palmer & Dodge LLP). While at the law firm, she provided corporate law
services to a broad range of both public and private corporations, and
developed an expertise in the areas of licensing and strategic
collaborations. Ms Valentine graduated cum laude with a bachelor's
degree in neuroscience from Colgate University, and received her law
degree, magna cum laude, from Boston University School of Law. Prior
to attending law school, Ms. Valentine was an excess umbrella
underwriter for Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Ms. Valentine has
been recognized as a "Rising Star Super Lawyer" by Boston Magazine since
2005.
